Name: iSwear Cartier (De’Andre Smith)

Hometown: Birmingham, Alabama

Genre: Hip-hop

Favorite Artists: Three 6 Mafia, Nas, Gucci Mane

As an indie rapper in the Atlanta area, describe who iSwear is in three words.

Cool, calm and confident.

With over 12K streams on Spotify in one year, what was the process of getting your music to the public?

Interacting with my listeners through social media as well as in-person interactions any chance I get.

Tell us about your most recent concert experience.

I recently opened up for Jack Harlow’s Loose Tour in Atlanta. The energy of the crowd was amazing!

Your style is very unique compared to most Atlanta rappers. You bring an artistic sound to rap. Tell us about the process when it comes to making new music.

I like to focus on making the beats first. Once that process is complete, I focus on the lyrics, and the type of vibe I want a song to have.

Do you believe artists are putting in the time necessary for their music? Has music lost its art?

I think music has evolved over time. For example, there [are] so many genres in hip-hop compared to the ’90s.

With over 20K streams, tell us about your new EP, Stupid Crazy. What can listeners expect?

Listeners can expect the unexpected. From the deep 808’s to the delivery of each song. I wanted to paint a picture with this project.
