The 2019 BET Awards took place in Los Angeles Sunday night, June 23, 2019, celebrating icons in music, film and sports. Mary J. Blige, Nipsey Hussle and John Singleton were among those honored.

Before celebrities entered the awards ceremony, they hit the blue carpet to show off their style. This year, there were some very interesting looks, and we’re here to tell you whose were hot and whose were not.

Best Dressed

Ella Mai – We declare the ‘Trip” singer (see above) the best dressed of the night. She was vibrant in her coordinated neon-green suit and didn’t overdo it with her hairstyle or accessories.

Ayesha Curry – The chef, wife and mother stepped onto the blue carpet with her new copper hair color in a fitted Balmain dressed.

Justine Skye – This year she went for a sexy look with this sheer gown highlighted with sequin accents. The epitome of beauty and grace, she can pull off almost any look.

Megan Good and DeVon Franklin – While he played it safe with his modest suit jacket ensemble, I love that she turned up the heat in a bright red blazer dress with the cinched waist.

Worst Dressed

Karrueche Tran – I wasn’t a fan of this oversized look at all. She is petite, and this suit is swallowing her frame. The color pops, but it would’ve worked better as a fitted tuxedo dress.

Lizzo – This look was all wrong. I didn’t like any of it — not the color, the pattern or the style.

Megan Thee Stallion – She didn’t give the “hot girl” summer vibes I was expecting. Instead, she looked like she was dressed for a belly dancer’s birthday party.

Ray J and Princess Love – While they were one of the cutest families on the carpet, their BET look was giving me Easter Sunday vibes, not BET Awards.

Lil’ Kim – This style of dress wasn’t made for her body type. The design had an 18th-century flair with the lace-up corset and oddly shaped wide hips.
