Love is the owner of several restaurants and a childcare facility called the Lord and Child Christian Day Care. She only identified herself as a “friend” of R. Kelly when she gave four installments of $25,000 to temporarily free R. Kelly.
Love will not divulge where she obtained the money from, or if she put it up herself.
“I’m not going to say it was my money or [Kelly’s] and he’s not broke,” she told Fox32 News. “He’s my friend and I knew he needed help. He was going to get out regardless, I just went out there to help my friend.”
Friendship and finances only go so far, however. When Kelly got hit with another round of indictments, this time on a federal charges, Love felt her gesture was not worth it and now wants it all back.
Worse for Love, her restaurants suffered from the negative publicity as many refused to patronize her eateries. Just as damaging, consumers flooded her website and other restaurant review pages with scurrilous statements.
