Carla Laney is the owner and CEO of Carting Kidz, a secure rideshare service that provides safe and reliable transportation of young people to their appointed and prearranged destinations.
Currently residing in Forney, Texas, Laney recently decided to leave the corporate world and explore alternate choices to fulfill her personal and professional ventures to impact her community by providing for others.
As a Black woman, what do you consider your superpowers to be?
As a Black woman, I think my superpower is being Black. My other superpowers are having the vision and discernment when others don’t see “it” and going for “it” despite the odds. In a world where Black was not always celebrated, vision and discernment are truly needed to stay ahead of the game.
What key qualities make you unique as an African American female leader?
Communication and honesty. Communication and honesty are very important … in any relationship. Being able to communicate and also be honest — whether good or bad —enables others to trust you and want to help build with you.
What thoughtful or encouraging piece of advice would you give to your younger self?
If given the opportunity, I would definitely inform my younger self to start your career and develop yourself as early as possible. Learn entrepreneurship, take more risks and never let anyone tell you “no” or quit. Click here to continue.
