Nicole Murphy is apologizing to Lela Rochon again, this time publicly on the “Wendy Williams Show,” for getting caught kissing her husband.
Murphy, the ex-wife of comedic legend Eddie Murphy, has been branded a homewrecker and a bottom-feeding husband chaser when she was caught having a romantic moment with Rachon’s husband, director Antoine Fuqua, while the two were chilling out at a resort hotel in Italy in July.
At first, Murphy tried to rationalize the kiss away by saying that it was simply a “hello” smooch between two friends crossing each other’s paths.
“Antoine and I are just family friends. I ran into him in Italy and we exchanged a friendly hello and that was it,” she said on Twitter in July. But people had a hard time believing that she and Fuqua, who is most famous for directing Denzel Washington in Training Day and Equalizer, were platonic.
The public blasted Murphy’s explanation – saying she was insulting the public’s intelligence – because the paparazzi photos showed Murphy and Fuqua lip-locking like lovers in bathrobes and towels.
Murphy quickly sang a different tune in an interview with TMZ.
“Without going into the entire situation, I want to apologize to my family, and to Lela and the Fuqua family for what transpired,” Murphy said.
