A Florida man will face murder charges after he allegedly killed his wife of 33 years and shot himself. The incident occurred over the weekend in Miami, according to WPLG.
Eddie Harris and his wife, Shanica Harris began dating when they were teenagers in high school and eventually got married and had kids. On the surface, they appeared to be the perfect couple. On Sept. 21, Eddie gifted Shanica with a new Mercedes Benz.
However, Eddie apparently became insecure over the relationship and began to question his wife’s loyalty on social media on Sept. 28. He posted a photo of the Benz he bought her on Facebook and told his followers that he wasted his money on the wrong woman. Eddie claimed that Shanica had a boyfriend who was driving around their house and attempting to kill him.
Once Shanica returned home that day, the two allegedly got into an argument which led to violence. Eddie allegedly shot and killed Shanica before turning the gun on himself. The couple’s two grandkids, ages 6 and 9, were in the home at the time. After two men notified police, Eddie barricaded himself in the home and attempted to kill himself.
Eddie’s suicide attempt did not go as planned and he was rushed to the hospital. Police were able to remove the kids, who were unharmed, from the home.
Harris could face life in prison for the murder of his wife if he survives the gunshot wound.
