Cynthia Bailey believes authenticity is her key to remaining balanced

There are reports that you are suing your ex-husband, Peter Thomas. Is there any truth to those rumors?

I haven’t spoken publicly about this, and I am not going to talk about it anymore. I’ve never been one to try to make anyone look bad after a breakup. I pride myself on having great relationships with all my exes. If we loved each other at one time, we shouldn’t gain anything from tearing each other down after. The situation isn’t about me suing my ex for money because I’ve always provided for myself. There was an agreement in place with a deadline and that deadline wasn’t met, so it’s being enforced.

The new season of “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” returns this month. The cast had to tape during the pandemic. How was that experience?

This season was definitely different because of the pandemic, and so the focus is different than past seasons. I’ve been referred to as one of the classy ones on the show, and I believe I live up to that because I try to make sure that I don’t misrepresent myself. I am who I am on the show in real life. Whatever car you see me show up with in real life is what I have on the show. There’s 50 Cynt and there’s Cynthia depending on the occasion, but that’s me when the cameras are on or when the cameras are off.

What life lesson would you share with younger women that has served you well?

I am not afraid to leave anything that doesn’t serve me well. If this show wasn’t working for me anymore, I’m not afraid to pick up and leave. If Atlanta was no longer serving me, I have no problem selling Lake Bailey and moving. I’ve been that way in my career, in relationships and everything else. I’m not afraid of change if it’s what’s right for me at the time.
