What do you hope readers take away from this book?
It’s a reminder that young people [and] children can make a difference. When they see that something’s not right, they can stand up and speak out against it. … This book really focuses on Harriet as a young person. Harriet was 8 years old when she made her first attempt at escape. So again, no matter how young, no matter the age, no matter the stage, young [people] can make a difference in this world.
