What you can do while waiting to get the COVID vaccine

Try natural supplements

Vitamin D can be obtained from the sun. Try taking a daily walk, open the blinds in your home or take a supplement. Some reports suggest vitamin D may assist with the inflammatory response in the body, which has been shown to contribute to an exacerbation of the COVID-19 disease.

Vitamin C can be obtained from citrus fruits like oranges, grapefruit, lemons and limes. Opting for the fruit rather than concentrated juice is healthier. Though taking an oral supplement at the recommended dose may be useful, be sure to take it with food to prevent an upset stomach.

Wear a mask to protect yourself and others by reducing exposure to saliva and respiratory secretions that may be harmful. This can decrease the spread of the disease.

Wash your hands frequently upon every visit outside, shopping, bathroom, eating, cooking, sneezing, touching eyes, nose or mouth. Hands should be washed with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Use hand sanitizer if not near a sink.

Social distance, adhere to the recommended 6 feet distancing in all public places or when around people who do not live in your home.

While you’re waiting for the COVID-19 vaccine please be sure to remain healthy and eat foods that will support a healthy immune system. COVID-19 affects everyone differently and there are so many uncertainties, do your part to protect yourself, your family and others.
