The “Let’s Get It” rapper previously filed a lawsuit in January against GBG claiming that the Sean John line used his trademarked phrase “Vote Or Die” to sell merchandise with the slogan during the presidential election.
Diddy’s lawyer, Jonathan Davis, also told All Hip Hop that GBG used his image for a video ad campaign to promote the new line in his latest lawsuit.
“[Diddy] does not challenge [Sean John/GBG’s] right to use the Sean John trademark, but rather [Sean John/GBG’s] decision to leverage a fabricated quote they created and then falsely attributed to Mr. Combs, and to use Mr. Combs’s name and other monikers to create the false and misleading impression that Mr. Combs is the decision-maker behind the designs and creation of the GBG Collection,” he explained.
While the legalities are being worked out, it seems that Combs’ main priority is letting the public know that he no longer owns the brand that bears his name.
