9-year-old author Mark C. Sanders describes his love for sports and academics

A great book has what?

A great book has a great title. It has to jump out at the readers [and have] a good storyline. I like stories that make me think about what’s next. I also love stories that I can relate to. Lastly, a [great] book has to have a great ending. I love a story that has a great ending.

Do any of the characters in the book represent you?

Yes, Ace. I am Ace. He’s the main character of the book. Ace is your average 6-year-old who loves the game of baseball. Ace works with his dad every day to achieve his goal while his mom and little brother support him.

What’s next for you?

I’m currently in the process of writing my second book [and] creating a literacy workbook. [As for] my long-term goals, I dream of playing in MLB [Major League Baseball], becoming a sports agent and even a sports journalist.
