Looks like Jeezy and Jeannie Mai may have pulled a misdirection on the media and fans.
The engaged pair told the media in 2020 that a wedding was not at the top of their priority list. But it looks unlikeliest of celebrity couples have at least applied for marriage licenses, meaning they are ready to graduate from lovers to spouses in the immediate future, according to People and E! News.
However, according to The Jasmine Brand and Bossip, the couple went ahead and got secretly married under the media’s watchful radar.
Both of the latter publications state the power couple exchanged vows in Jeezy’s hometown of Atlanta.
“Sources tells us that the pair secretly wed on Sunday in Atlanta,” according to TJB and Bossip.
Fans were already aware the couple had gotten engaged. But, because of an exclusive interview that 41-year-old “The Talk” cohost gave to “Entertainment Tonight,” fans and media assumed a lavish wedding was far off on the horizon somewhere.
“Honestly, right now that’s not at the top of our lists,” she said during the exclusive interview. “We’re so happy we’re able to celebrate an engagement right now. I feel like we got work to do, so when it comes to our individual work and our individual projects and the messaging we want to send to people, even the way that we use our Instagram, it’s really important right now to spread an energy of positivity and uniting one another than it is to be planning a wedding.”
Not long out there, someone put out rumors that Jeezy, aka Jay Wane Jenkins, wanted to push the wedding back as far away as 2025, which Mai was reportedly cool with.
That no longer seems to be the case, whether they are planning a wedding or already had one.
