NeNe Leakes informed her fans that her husband Gregg Leakes’ cancer has returned.
The former franchise star of the hit reality TV show “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” told The Jasmine Brand during an Instagram Live chat on Monday, June 28, 2021, that her husband is currently undergoing treatment for the malignant malady.
“He’s in the hospital. He’s been in the hospital, tomorrow it’ll be a week,” Leakes, 53, said during the IG interview. “I’m sure he’ll be home in about a week or so. He had to have surgery [because] his cancer did return.”
Gregg Leakes, who had made routine appearances on “RHOA” since its inception in 2008, was given a clean bill of health after his first bout of colon cancer went into remission in 2018.
“He’s had this surgery before, and he was in the hospital for about 15 days,” NeNe Leakes said, adding that she anticipates a similar stay at the undisclosed medical center.
She also told The Jasmine Brand that she is crushed by the current medical scare as the virulent disease robbed him of any vestige of vitality and made him “super small.”
“If you’ve ever been around somebody who’s had cancer before, he’s different,” she said. “He’s different.”
Leakes is asking her fans to send out positive vibes for her husband’s complete recovery.
“I’d love for everybody to pray for Gregg, that would be beautiful. Pray for his strength,” she said. “And pray for me too.”
The Leakes, who have two children, were first married in 1997 before a very public divorce in 2011. The pair remarried in 2013.
