Geto Boys rappers Scarface and Willie D are reuniting for a new project but it won’t be an album this time around.
Scarface and Willie D are unveiling their new podcast called “Geto Boys Reloaded,” which will be reminiscent of their previous works as artists. The two surviving members of the celebrated trio that also included Bushwick Bill — who died in 2019 — will be bringing forth compelling and thought-provoking conversations, highlighting music, entertainment, social issues, and awareness, among other topics.
A few of the first guests on the show will be Rap-A-Lot founder and CEO J. Prince, comedian and actor Mike Epps and activist, Dr. Boyce Watkins. Willie D previously spoke on the new show with Watkins on Instagram and gave more insight on the project.
“We doing the same thing we did with music. Providing information and instructions. Information on what’s going on in the world and instruction on how to navigate it. So you look at, you listen to a lot of music people will tell you they provide the information, they won’t give you the instructions. They don’t give you the instructions on how to navigate through the struggle. They’ll talk about the struggle but they won’t give you the instruction on how to navigate through it,” explained Willie D.
“Geto Boys Reloaded” is also a part of Charlamagne Tha God’s The Black Effect Podcast Network, which is partnered with iHeart Media. Other podcasts already a part of the network include “Drink Champs,” “All the Smoke,” “The 85 South Show” and “Street Politicians” with Tamika Mallory and Mysonne.
The debut episode of “Geto Boys Reloaded” premiers Monday, July 5.
