How did you come up with the name of your business?
The Secret Cocktail is actually a play on words. I am a nurse by trade for 10-plus years. When a patient is under a lot of stress we give them something called a “cocktail” to help them in their time of need. So my business helps individuals start their own health care training schools nationwide. This can be a long, confusing process, so our goal is to use our secret “cocktail” of information and resources to help this person bring their idea to actual fruition.
How are you managing your company’s growth as CEO?
The pandemic grew my business very quickly overnight as essential workers were needed and there were not enough schools to train them. [Though] we have such a niche business that everyone does not understand what we do. Keynote there, always prepare for your growth. Managing growth is deeper than just hiring, it’s learning people, credentials, policies and more.
Who are the four most important people in your mastermind group?
Number one my CPA and bookkeeper. Number two is a good coach or mentor, somebody you can go to to ask questions and make sure you’re making the right decisions for your business. Number three is an attorney, for any type of legal advice. Number four is my “business bestie” that I talk to and bounce ideas off of.
If you were speaking at a college, what would you try to impart to the students?
Seek knowledge, teach yourself as much as you can, [though] you can always hire someone else to do something, you have to understand the fundamentals of it in order to hire efficiently. Be fearless, invest in yourself.
