Russell Westbrook traded to the Los Angeles Lakers

“Thank you DC! You welcomed my family and I with open arms from day one. Everyone from the front office, to the training staff, the coaches, my teammates, and the fans. I’m grateful y’all took a chance on me and supported me every step of the way. I’m blessed to have been a part of such a stand up organization. It didn’t take long to make a home in DC, and I will forever be grateful and appreciative of my experience with the organization. Thank you! #thedistrict,” Westbrook wrote on IG.

The nine-time All-Star point guard met with James and Davis two weeks ago at LeBron’s house according to The Los Angeles Times and had a conversation about Westbrook joining the squad. They discussed putting their egos aside in their quest to bring the Lakers another NBA championship.

King James was more than happy to welcome his new teammate as they prepare for another championship run. James posted a photoshopped picture of Westbrook in a Lakers jersey alongside him and Anthony Davis. Westbrook, who is from Southern California and played at UCLA, has been intrigued by the idea of returning to his Los Angeles roots, according to ESPN.
