In a bit of news that will not shock any follower of “The Real Housewives of Atlanta,” actress Kenya Moore has filed for divorce from Marc Daly.
Some would say the marriage was doomed from the start as the couple tied the knot under controversial conditions. The couple secretly wed on an exotic Caribbean island in the summer of 2017, which greatly angered Bravo producers.
Moreover, Daly was hardly ever in Atlanta as the restaurateur ran his business in New York. After nonstop marriage tension and tumult, the two officially separated in September 2019.
According to the court documents obtained by BET.com, Moore filed for divorce in May 2021 and listed her marriage as “irretrievably broken” with no hope of reconciliation. She tried to keep the filing secret.
“The Petitioner is a high-profile individual who has a vested and heightened interest in keeping her private life from becoming public,” her lawyers wrote. “Due to her public persona, the Petitioner’s life, safety and privacy interests are generally the subject of media outlets.”
Moore is demanding primary custody of their daughter Brooklyn. Daly reportedly filed in June and asked for joint custody. He also wants Moore’s home in suburban Atlanta to be sold and for the pair to split the profit.
The former beauty queen has also petitioned the court to resolve the custody matter expeditiously.
“To date, there are various issues impacting the care, safety and well-being of the minor child that could be continuously impacted if not addressed at least on a ‘Temporary’ basis. Without assistance and direction for this Honorable Court, it is our belief that the unresolved matters as to the minor child will continue, and could become irreparable.”
