Does this book depict you in any way?
I’ve given a lot of my weird quirks to my characters. I think a lot of writers write what we know, but I have a great imagination. So, it’s not all about me, but definitely like my Comic-Con story, we’re out in like a human karaoke machine and I’d been singing randomly. If you say a word, I’d start singing. … So yes, there are pieces of Nana in there.

Do you plan on writing a novel?

I love the short story space. I like the tension on the constraint. Pressure makes diamonds.

What’s next?

Walking On Cowrie Shells is only 22 months old, so I have a number of festivals that I’m going to be going to and other media engagements. I’ll be around. For this book, I’m also working on a sci-fi novella. I’m in tandem with a composer who’s actually putting some of my spoken word in the story to music. So, I’m out here!
