Girls Who Code CEO Tarika Barrett creating a path for equity

And how do we introduce them to tech and tech role models?
We’ve thought about how girls connect to [social media]. We did a music video with Lizzo to support our community of girls, we’ve partnered with Lyda Hill, to show what the internet would look like if there were no female engineers, and we continue to make sure that the face of tech is very much that of a young woman, and especially a Black and Brown woman. And that is the work that we do. For moms and other family members, if you have a niece, an intern who works with you, a cousin, when’s the last time you asked about a career in computer science or coding or programming. Girls Who Code spends a lot of time making sure that we create a space where girls look up and they see themselves reflected in the tech industry.
