MoneyBagg Yo is keeping his foot on the gas with his “A Gangsta’s Pain” tour to continue his most successful year to date. His second stop was on Battery Avenue in Atlanta, where Bagg sold out the Coca-Cola Roxy on Friday, Oct. 1.
His 21-state, fall tour came to fruition shortly after his fourth studio album, A Gangsta’s Pain, dropped in May 2021. The album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard charts, slipped to No. 2 the second week, before it crept back up to the top spot, giving Moneybagg an uncommon double placing on the charts.
The Memphis, Tennessee-born rapper rocked the crowd complete with eye-catching visuals, interactive DJs, and beautiful backup dancers. DJ Ziggy and DJBigTiny served as hosts for the night.
The tour’s openers included MCs Big Homiie, Big 30, and one of the newest additions to the Breadgang label, Tripstar, who is a product of Bagg’s hometown, Memphis, Tennessee.
Blacc Zacc, a South Carolina product and Interscope artist, performed “Richest Rapper in SC.” Big Homiie G performed his viral hit “Tick,” which collected a gross of 9.5 million views on Youtube.
Rapper, Big 30 performed “Free Sheist Life” featuring Pooh Sheisty — a fellow Memphis rapper who celebrated a breakout year in 2020 with appearances on Gucci Mane’s So Icy Summer and So Icy Gang, upon his signing with the 1017 label. Big 30 was one of many who called for Pooh Sheisty’s freedom, as he is currently behind bars. He was also joined on stage by Moneybagg to perform “Go.”
Tripstar performed “Ian Trippin” before he was also joined by Bagg for another AGP hit, “I Believe U.”
Moneybagg arrived at approximately 9 pm to an anticipating crowd. He opened with hard hitters from 2020’s Time Served — “Me vs Me,” as well as “1,2,3.”
At one point Bagg engaged the audience in a nostalgic tone, “I feel like we could go back classic one time,” before dropping “Don’t Kno” from his 2017 album, Heartless. He then called on his Breadgang labelmates for a supercharged performance of his 2016 hit “Gang Gang,” featuring Black Youngsta.
From his most recent portfolio, Bagg kept the crowd lively with his best-known hits, including “Hard for the Next” and “Time Today,” before slowing it down for the ladies on“One of Dem Nights.”
As his set came to a close he told the crowd, “I want to hear every bar,” as mega-hit “Wockesha” came over the speakers, undoubtedly anticipated by the Atlanta crowd.
Before leaving the stage and giving some personal items to the crowd, Bagg thanked the sold-out arena saying, “It’s been real love,” which undeniably had been shown. Bagg continues on to his next stop, Charlotte, NC.
