Kandi Burruss talks about producing Broadway play, changes on ‘RHOA’

The subject of this show is on trend right now with more Black men sharing their experiences from their perspective. Was this one of the reasons you wanted to produce this particular show?

I was super excited to be a part of the show because this is historic. It’s the first time ever in Broadway history that you have seven Black men starring in a show, with a Black writer, and an all-Black production team, that’s never happened in the history of Broadway. Broadway has always been referred to as the “Great White Way” so knowing that we’re a part of changing that history is exciting. But it’s important for us to support our own so that there will be opportunities for others.

There are so many changes to this upcoming season of “RHOA.” Are you worried about the changes? Also, which cast member do you think audiences would miss the most if she left the show?

I would say people will have to stay tuned to see how all the changes play out. The housewife I probably missed the most honestly was NeNe. You can’t deny what she brings to the show and so the first time she left, I was a bit worried. But the show went on and I think it always will. That showed me the franchise is bigger than one person, so whoever comes or goes, I think the show will be fine.

Thoughts of a Colored Man stars Dyllon Burnside, Da’Vinchi, Luke James and Tristan Mack Wilds.
