Anderson said he believes the show’s legacy stands with past Black family sitcoms like “The Cosby Show,” “The Bernie Mac Show,” “Family Matters,” “My Wife and Kids” and a “Different World.”
“When Kenya and I sat down almost 10 years ago and talked about the landscape of television and what was missing from it from us, he and I as viewers,” Anderson said, “we went back to ‘The Jeffersons,’ we went back to ‘Good Times,’ went back to ‘All in the Family’ we talked about Cosby. Hopefully, our show has pulled pages from all of those.”
Episode one of the final and eighth season of “Black-ish” is scheduled for Jan. 4, 2022, according to IMDB.
For reference, “The Cosby Show” lasted for eight seasons, “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” aired for six seasons and “The Bernie Mac Show” ran for five seasons.
