Legend has been making a few other power plays behind the scenes and announced in June that his Get Lifted production company partnered with the Bernie Mac estate to produce a biopic about the late comedian. The Original Kings of Comedy star died 13 years ago on Aug. 9, 2008, from complications of pneumonia as he battled the inflammatory lung disease sarcoidosis. Legend was also featured in one of Bernie Mac’s final films, 2008’s Soul Men, which starred Samuel L. Jackson.
