Dr. Reneé Matthews pens book to help parents and children understand asthma

What should readers expect from the book?
When readers read my book they can expect to hear my story navigating life allergic to the top eight most popular allergens plus others. I also have the medical side of allergies and asthma in my book to help people navigate the health information they need to stay healthy with these conditions.

What steps can parents take to reduce asthma triggers in the home?
For household triggers like dust and mold …  a dehumidifier can minimize indoor mold and mildew growth. There are allergy-proof covers for bedding and washing bedding weekly in hot water gets rid of dust mites.

What symptoms should parents look for when it comes to pediatric asthma?
Wheezing — a musical sound made when breathing out. Chronic cough — cough that is present at night, during sleep, worse during colds, or is triggered by exercise or cold air.

What does literary success look like to you?
Literary success looks like at least one person having a better understanding of allergies and asthma.

What is next for you?
On the horizon is the debut of the first book of my children’s book series, No, Renee, You are Allergic! Dr. Renee and friends is a series of books that will help tackle asthma and allergies from a kid’s perspective, but also other health issues.
