Now, Cooper is in a new relationship with NFL star Alvin Kamara. She’s spent a part of her off-season in New Orleans, where Kamara headlines the Saints’ roster.
Her journey in learning how to love started as a child. Cooper had to be a role model from an early age as an older sibling. She often found herself asking questions like who she wanted to be, how she wanted to be looked at, how she wanted to be loved, or what impression she wanted to leave on people. She read books on how to care about relationships whether they’re professional, personal or romantic. The Sparks guard also spends time by herself.
“Learn about yourself and be that person that you want to be,” Cooper said. “Be that person you aspire to be, do that early, and then it kind of just works out. Being a good person gets you so far.”
Cooper said her mom didn’t know where her optimism comes from, but she thinks it’s just a product of being carefree.
“The art of not caring — I don’t know how I got it, how I developed it, but honestly, I have no desire to waste my energy on something that would not matter in five hours [or] five years. If I died tomorrow, is it worth wasting my time with the minutes that I have left? I just find [I] look at things like that,” she said.
