Mariah Carey wants children to follow their dreams and have faith

Tell us a little bit more about that.

I wrote about it in my memoir that I collaborated on with Miss Michaela Angela Davis. We really got into that part about the childhood of a little girl that nobody understood. Looking at it now, it’s the “Mariah Menu.” It’s kind of a big deal. I would hope that it can help other girls and boys and anybody growing up that doesn’t have things. It’s somewhat easier now because if you have a smartphone you have things, but I didn’t have that.

I worked on the new song with Khalid and Kirk Franklin. My musical director, Daniel Moore, had just done the Stellar Awards. We wrote this song, “Fall in Love at Christmas.” The video is out now. He was talking to Kirk and Kirk came in and put the choir on, and I put my version on. And I’m really enjoying it here. Atlanta is home now. I just bought a house there.

If you were going to whisper in the ears of all those young girls about dreams and Christmas what would you say?

Christmas is its own thing to me. When I was little I just wanted a functional family and a nice holiday. I didn’t really have that. So, dreams are [possible], you just have to believe. It’s faith. Hebrews 11:1 says, “Have faith and you can do anything. All things are possible.” Happy holidays to everybody!
