Rev. Jesse Jackson continues to fight injustice

“When I see icons like Jesse Jackson and Andrew Young, I feel those icons are still trying to fight for what they signed up for,” Morehouse senior Olamide Fagbamiye told rolling out, “which is service and helping the Black community get to where we need to be.”

Fagbamiye sat on stage for Biden’s speech, and is involved with the Black Voices Movement, an organization that encourages young Black leaders to step into “their Christ-centered purpose.” He said seeing the likes of Jackson remaining committed to his mission inspires him today as a college student.

“It helps me to see that I need to do more, I can do more and opportunities are still out there,” Fagbamiye said. “Seeing them in real-time and seeing them in the moments where we need it the most, it’s just shows us our heroes are still living and we can be heroes, too.”
