The new communications director also said he called Erika Andiola, the on-air immigrant he referred to in 2010, to apologize for his comments. Andiola said she accepted his apology, due to his actions in previous years and the support he has from various people she respects.
“Yes, I can join many of you and cancel Jamal,” Andiola tweeted. “But I do truly value redemption, and after all the convos I’ve had (in the real world, not twitter), I made a decision that felt good in my heart. If I was wrong, time will tell.”
