The city of Atlanta has lost one of its most iconic voices in media.

On the morning of March 2, the family of legendary radio DJ SiMan Baby posted a short message on his Twitter account.

“It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband and father, Silas “SiMan Baby” Alexander, III,” the statement read. “After a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer, we feel at peace knowing that he can rest now. Thank you for your love, prayers, and support during this difficult time for our family.”

The DJ was inducted into the Georgia Radio Hall of Fame in 2018 after working at stations V-103, KISS 104.1 and Majic 107.5/97.5. The host is best known for his trademark call: “SiiiiiMannnnn Bayyyyybayyyyyy!”

SiMan Baby first announced his cancer diagnosis on his 58th in September 2021. He had stage 4 pancreatic cancer, which has a 3% survival rate. It was the same cancer his cousin, DJ Mix Master Mitch, had. Mitch died in December 2021. The cousins hosted a “Cousins with Cancer” podcast until Mitch’s death.

Atlanta also mourned the loss of popular news anchor Jovita Moore in October 2021, who died of brain cancer.
