What is the difference between the DJ scene in the DMV and Los Angeles?
I love my city of Maryland, Virginia, but the DJ scene in LA is a lot better. I think the best DJs come from the DMV, and I am being biased. We are good out there, and fundamentally we got it. There are a lot of good DJs in LA that I’ve worked with and I can’t name them all, but they’re out here and I see him on a daily basis and they’re great. Why I prefer LA is because I think it’s a DJ city, as DC is a promoter city. LA has a promoter scene, but it’s not like the most popular scene as if you go to a small city like DC, where promoters run the city. It’s almost like gatekeeping. You have to impress the promoter, you have to be friends with the promotor, you have to be friends with somebody popular that spreads the promoter like a basketball player. You got to have some type of leverage. In LA, all you have to do is work your a– off.
