Rapper 22Gz was arrested after landing at the John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York on charges of attempted murder and other felonies on June 12, 2022, the New York Daily News reports. He was en route to perform at the New York City Summer Jam music fest.

The New York Police Department stated in its report that the rapper was described by three gunshot victims who were shot outside a club in Brooklyn in March 2022. One victim sustained a wound to his foot, a second was shot in the leg while the third sustained gunshot wounds to both legs.

The Brooklyn-born emcee, whose real name is Jeffrey Mark Alexander, is also being charged with second-degree assault, two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, and first-degree reckless endangerment.

Reports state this isn’t the first time the “Said It’s Lit” rapper has faced felony charges. The newspaper reported that he was arrested in the killing of a man over a parking spot dispute back in Miami in 2017. He was released after several months of jail time after police determined he was not the one who actually killed the man.

Also, in 2018, the emcee was charged with criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of marijuana, and criminal trespassing when police caught him with a taser and large amounts of weed in a New York basement.
