Hardcore Black Panther fans have been barking all week at the released trailer of the sequel, vociferously decrying the fact that T’Challa’s character has been killed off.

Subsequently, Black Panther disciples have vowed to boycott the November 2022 release of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever because they believe that the titular character should have been recast despite the shocking passing of legendary actor Chadwick Boseman on Aug. 28, 2022.

The hashtag #RecastTChalla revealed some impassioned pleas and harsh denunciations about the demise of the Marvel comic character. One user said: “God forbid … but if Tom Holland died today, they would not kill off Peter Parker. If Robert Pattinson died, they would not stop casting people to play Bruce Wayne. Chadwick was very proud of bringing Tchalla to life. Killing Tchalla does not honor Chadwick. #RecastTchalla.

Still others are promising to avoid seeing the film because the comic book character was brought to life on the big screen after the ceaseless lobbying of mostly, if not solely, Black men. However, the film is now starring mostly Black females with only one major male character starring in the follow-up.

Some even have suggestions about an appropriate successor to the throne of T’Challa, such as rising superstar Damson Idris of “Snowfall” fame.

A second Twitter user said that “we don’t have to accept T’Challa being killed off in a fictional MCU because the actor who portrayed him in one solo film has unfortunately passed. As Boseman’s family members have publicly stated in agreement with #RecastTChalla keeping 616 T’Challa alive honors Chadwick.”

A third T’Challa fan said that “no matter what, Chadwick will always have a place in our heart. He’s our Black Panther, but the show must go on. It’s not about dignity or disrespecting the character. Boseman would have wanted #RecastTChalla to pass the beacon rather than killing the character with all this honor and morals.”
