Tyrese is going to have to pay up, and in a big way.
The actress and R&B singer has been ordered to pay around $636,000 in child support and lawyers’ fees in his custody battle hearing.
According to TMZ, the ruling was made in Fulton County court on April 25 and Tyrese was instructed to pay his ex-wife Samantha Lee Gibson $237,944 for child support and $399,000 to her attorney.
Tyrese initially complained about the amount of child support he was asked to pay, and in August 2022, he refused to pay $10,000 every month to Gibson and claimed that she already makes a good amount of money.
Tyrese’s attorney says that he doesn’t have to pay Gibson until May 15. He’ll also have to pay $17,000 for the special master, which TMZ explains is a “referee of sorts, appointed by the judge to handle minor disputes during the case.” If considered a separate fee, the total comes up to $654,000, but if not, Tyrese will only have to pay $636,944.
On the night of April 25, Tyrese posted a long response on Instagram about having to pay child support.
“For any fathers advocate groups, anyone that can represent me to get some new laws put in place that can go into Congress,” Tyrese said. “I am ready along with a whole lot of other fathers who continue to get f—ed over by the family law court system … I’ve never been the type of man to sit on my hands quietly b—- and moan at home about everything …. I stand UP a and speak UP a and OUT about injustice.”
