An NFL player’s 2-year-old daughter, Arrayah, tragically drowned in the family pool on April 30. Police said the daughter of Tampa Bay Buccaneers linebacker Shaquil Barrett was transported to the hospital but could not be revived and was pronounced dead.

Officers responded to a call about a child falling in the pool before heading to Barrett’s house in south Tampa before 9:30 a.m.

“The investigation is ongoing,” the police report read, according to CBS News. “It is not believed to be suspicious in nature at this time, but a purely accidental and tragic incident.”

Barrett and his wife Jordanna have three other children.

“Today’s tragic news is heartbreaking for all members of the Buccaneers family,” the team statement read. “Our thoughts and prayers are with Shaq, Jordanna and the entire Barrett family during this unimaginably difficult time.

“While no words can provide true comfort at a time such as this, we offer our support and love as they begin to process this very profound loss of their beloved Arrayah.”

Eleven days before the tragedy, Barrett dedicated an Instagram birthday post to her.

NFL stars then began to share their condolences.

“Prayers to the entire Barrett family,” Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes II tweeted.

“Heartbreaking,” Denver Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson tweeted. “Praying for you and your family, Shaq.”

Barrett is recovering from a torn Achilles he suffered in the second half of this past season.
