Rapper T.I. and Xscape group member Tiny, are facing new allegations of sexual assault in a recent lawsuit. The couple, also known as Clifford Harris Jr. and Tameka Harris, released a statement denying the claims and expressing their determination to fight back.
“We have emphatically and categorically denied these allegations from the beginning, while the claims in this story have changed time and time again,” the couple said in a statement given to The Los Angeles Times, the couple said,
The allegations date back to 2005 when a woman, identified as Jane Doe who was formerly enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, accused T.I. and Tiny of sexual assault. Although charges were not filed due to the statute of limitations, the lawsuit has been filed under California’s Sexual Abuse and Cover Up Accountability Act, which allows civil suits in cases of sexual assault that exceed the statute of limitations if there was a cover-up involved. The couple is now facing legal action from Doe, as reported by The Los Angeles Times.
“Our position is clear… We are innocent of these fake claims, we will not be shaken down and we look forward to our day in court,” the couple said in response to the lawsuit. T.I. and Tiny starred in the reality show “T.I. & Tiny: Friends & Family Hustle.” According to “TMZ,” their attorney also dismissed the claims as “bogus” and argued that the lawsuit was filed after the deadline.
However, Rodney S. Diggs, the attorney for Doe, asserted that his client is within the statute of limitations and emphasized the importance of seeking justice for victims of sexual assault. “Silencing women silences justice. No longer will my client remain silent; we are now seeking justice for her and everyone who has been similarly violated,” he stated.
