Tidwell spoke with rolling out about mental health tips, when to know someone needs a mindset coach, and how to improve your mindset.
What are three mental health tips that you can share?
The first one is “to thine own self be true,” which is Shakespeare. You have to be true to yourself. Trust your gut, we have a natural instinct that’s given to us that is innately a part of who we are. We’re born with it. Oftentimes we ignore that. That’s why you hear people say “I knew I should have.” You should have because your gut instincts told you to do something different.
The second is to do daily check-ins, set your intentions for your day, every single morning and do a nightly debrief, check in with yourself at night. That way you can process who you are and where you are in this journey called life. Last but not least, make today better than yesterday, and strive for an even better tomorrow. Every day, we have to be very intentional about the type of day that we’re going to have because your mindset will control the type of day that you have and how you respond to the things that come up.
How can someone know that they need a mindset coach?
When your mind and challenges in life seem to be more on a downward spiral than an upward swing. If you find that you’re often challenged with things, then a mindset coach might be the right person to look into. Another thing is if you find that you’re just not happy. You get up, go to work, go home, and go to bed. If you find the monotony in every single day, and you’re not finding any joy or pleasure in doing the things that you’re doing, that’s another thing that you might want to start looking into as a mindset coach to help you shift your mindset is if you start getting a lot of physical ailments.
Our minds are the controlling force, the nucleus of who we are, so it starts showing up in our physical being as well. Headaches, not being able to sleep, insomnia, stomach aches, things of that nature, you might want to go to a doctor first because you want to check out the physical part, but more than likely, it has to do with your mindset and things that you’re being challenged with emotionally or mentally.
What are three things people can do to improve their mindset?
One of the things is when you start those conversations in your head, complete them. We try to shut them off or we immediately transition them to something else. Complete those conversations, because that’s how you actually work through the process of shifting your mindset. The second one is to make sure that you get adequate rest. You have to be able to recalibrate. If you don’t recalibrate, you’re never going to be what you need to be or have enough energy in order to work towards success. Thirdly is garner support. Have those conversations that sometimes are taboo or that you were taught to never talk about because you never know when other people are going through the exact same things that you’re going through, have gone through it already, or are going to go through it in the future and will help be able to talk you through it.
