During this ramadan, Lil Jon has embraced Islam. The legendary producer and DJ made the decision nearly a month after he released his Total Meditation album on Feb. 16. The project is a definite 180 from the “Turn Down For What” hit he’s become famous for.

News and footage of Jon accepting Islam surfaced on March 15. He testified Allah is his Lord in the ceremony, first in Arabic and then in English.

“I testify that there is no one worthy of worship, except Allah,” Jon recited. “Alone. Without partner. And I testify that Mohammad is his servant and final messenger.”

Jon was a part of Usher’s 2004 hit “YEAH!” which went platinum 13-times on Feb. 9 after performing it during the Super Bowl LVIII halftime show in Las Vegas with Ludacris. In the final moments of the performance, while getting the entire crowd to chant “yeah,” Usher proclaimed that he “brought the world to the A.”

The music juggernaut also works with HGTV, where he transforms plain houses into something exciting on “Liil Jon Wants to Do What?”

Thanks in part to the pandemic, Jon was able to receive some of his well-earned career flowers in a Verzuz with T-Pain, where both sides played some of their biggest hits for over two hours.
