Teyana Taylor is paying it forward and stepping up to participate in the “Femme It Forward” MUSE mentorship program as a newly named advisor to upcoming female artists and creatives.

“Femme It Forward” creator Heather Lowery launched the MUSE (Musicians Uplifting Stars Everyday) program as an “initiative that aims to kick down doors and shatter glass ceilings by increasing opportunities, balancing the scales, creating more space, and impacting real change for women creatives in music.”

“I have made it my mission to pave the way for future generations of women to be equipped with the tools they need to sit at any table,” Lowery said via statement. “MUSE has lived in my heart for the last 3 years, and I am honored to release it into reality as a high-powered program to combat the inequities, disparities and disturbing statistics around the historic underrepresentation of women in the music industry, especially women of color.”

During the 7-month program, attendees will receive one-on-one mentorship, hands on experience, and the chance to be tutored by other superstar participants such as advisors Lowery, Taylor, Alicia Keys, and Erykah Badu as well as mentors including Amber Riley, Rapsody, Tiara Thomas, and Trina.

Taylor says she’s excited to “share the lessons I have learned about being a hustler, staying hungry, and keeping myself humble. Whoever loves instruction loves knowledge.”

“I would like to believe that we become fruitful not for that fruit to be inaccessible and rot but to feed others,” Rapsody told VIBE. “The opportunity to enrich each other is currency. It’s how we continue to improve and evolve from generation to generation. We should be building bridges and teaching, especially as women. So, I’m grateful I get an opportunity to continue to pass along the information through MUSE.”

The program which caters to artists, songwriters, producers, engineers, music directors, composers, and DJ’s will culminate with the participants working together in the MUSE Labs on a music project.

Femme It Forward’s second compilation album, “Big Femme Energy” is set to be released in late 2024.
