LEADing for Life Enterprise is all about preparing learners who think beyond the surface. This next level of teaching is a great example of what the organization is all about: creating a better community.
Recently, Dr. Lawrence Drake II, the president and CEO of LEADing for Life Enterprises, spoke to rolling out about the program and a recent event it held in Atlanta.
What was today’s event like?
The event was great.
It was well attended. We had a lot of folks in the room that are part of our community, a lot of partners and people from the local Atlanta community.
To me, it went actually better than expected. In terms of, why we were doing this, obviously, it is to launch this conversion from LEAD to LEADing for Life, or Leadership Education and Development to now LEADing for Life Enterprise.
What’s the difference?
Lots of differences, because it’s a different way of approaching learning. There are different tools we’re going to deploy, different ways of thinking about who can come into the community, when and how, and how we actually just do the work that we love to do, which is trying to create opportunities and access for people to learn and learn in a sustainable way.
What are some ways I can become a community leader?
You can come into our community in a number of different ways.
You could come in and say, “Look. I want to apply my craft in a particular industry,” and we’d like to help you do that. We can talk about how we do that.
You can also volunteer and be a mentor or coach for some of our young people. There are a number of ways you can get involved.
What was your favorite part of today?
I think the biggest thing was being able to share where we’re going and how we’re going to use gamification for learning. That was my favorite part because it’s such an important development in the way in which we do the work we do.
How can people follow you all on social media?
Go to leadingforlife.org, and you’ll find out more about us. If you go there, you’re going to see some of the things we’re doing.
In the coming months, there’ll be a lot more. Of course, we’re also on LinkedIn and Twitter.
What else is coming up for you all?
Keep an eye out on the launch of our gamification project. Also, keep an eye out and make a date for April 4, 2025. That’s when we’re going to connect globally.
