The iconic ’90s girl group TLC has unfortunately canceled a performance after member Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins fell ill. The group was set to take the stage at the New York State Fair in Syracuse, New York, but just 30 minutes before showtime, the fair’s official social media account announced the cancellation.

Health concerns for T-Boz

According to a statement shared on T-Boz’s Instagram, the singer was experiencing severe symptoms, including nausea, vomiting and intense abdominal cramps. She was promptly seen by a doctor and taken to the hospital for further evaluation.

Initially suspected to be food poisoning, it was later confirmed that T-Boz was diagnosed with a severe abdominal blockage. The group’s management stated, “She remains in the hospital under medical supervision but is expected to be released tomorrow.”

Commitment to fans

TLC expressed their commitment to rescheduling the canceled shows and apologized to fans, especially those who traveled long distances to attend. The group appreciates the understanding and support from their audience during this challenging time.

T-Boz took to Instagram to reassure fans, saying, “I’m on The Mend!!! This Was Just One Of Those Unexpected Things That I Had No Control Over! I Look Forward To Making It Up 2 You All… And Hopefully I’ll Get Out Of The Hospital Soon!!!”

Upcoming performances

Despite this setback, TLC has a series of performances lined up through October, including a concert at the Ravinia Festival in Highland Park, Illinois, on Aug. 31. The group continues to tour in celebration of the 30th anniversary of their landmark 1994 album CrazySexyCool, while also honoring their late bandmate Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes, who tragically died in 2002.

T-Boz’s journey

In addition to her musical career, T-Boz has been open about her health struggles, having penned a memoir titled “A Sick Life” in 2017, which details her experiences with sickle cell disease during TLC’s rise to fame.

As fans await news of T-Boz’s recovery and the rescheduling of performances, the love and support for TLC remain unwavering.
