Christmas movies provide the perfect backdrop for family gatherings as we enter the final countdown to December 25th, with less than 10 days remaining until the big day. While last-minute shoppers scramble to check off their gift lists, settling in with loved ones to stream some holiday entertainment on Amazon Prime offers a welcome respite from the seasonal rush.

5. A December Bride

In the endearing Christmas romance A December Bride, Layla, a budding interior designer, receives an invitation to her ex-fiancé’s December wedding. She claims that her attractive and charming friend Seth is her new lover in order to save face; as they spend more time together, however, their phony relationship begins to feel all too genuine. The film has all the themes of Christmas that we enjoy: love, joy and surprises. For those who enjoy holiday love stories, this one is for you.

4. Almost Christmas

A beloved father has one Christmas wish: for his perpetually feuding children to set aside their differences and enjoy the holiday together. This laugh-out-loud comedy explores familiar family dynamics as siblings struggle to honor their father’s request while confronting long-standing tensions. The stellar cast brings both humor and heart to this exploration of family bonds.

3. Harry Potter and The Sorcerer’s Stone

This might not be a Christmas movie, but it is a classic and has many Christmas elements. The very first Harry Potter film will have you ready to binge the entire film series. The film starts out with the murder of Potter’s parents, and you see why he is “the boy who lived.” As the movie continues, you fall in love with the young naive trio of Harry, Ron and Hermione as they juggle their first year at Hogwarts. It’s a great family film that even the kids can watch. If you’ve never gotten into Harry Potter before, why not now?

2. It’s a Very Merry Muppet Christmas Movie

The Muppets will forever be a holiday staple, and this classic movie is a big reason why. The film is about the Muppet’s theater potentially closing. Kermit and the gang come together to save the Muppet Theater from foreclosure during the Christmas season. Similarly to the classic film, It’s a Wonderful Life, a turn of events reveals to Kermit what life might be like without him around. The film is full of holiday themes like giving, humor, and of course, the Christmas spirit. It features memorable cameos, catchy tunes and the iconic Muppet charm, making it a happy celebration for viewers of all ages. Once you unwrap the presents, gather all the kids and put them on to a true holiday classic.

1. The Lion, The Witch, And the Wardrobe

The Lion, The Witch, And the Wardrobe isn’t just a great holiday film; it’s a great film for any season. The story is a reenactment of a certain person from the Bible; I’ll let you all watch and figure out. But this classic film takes us into the land of Narnia, where Lucy and her siblings are magically transported after finding a wardrobe with secret powers. Once they are in Narnia, they are confronted by the evil witch who tricks one of the siblings into selling his soul to her. At that point, the lion, Aslan, has a tough decision to make; let the boy lose his life to the witch or sacrifice himself instead. The film features a ton of biblical references and portrays the life of this person from the bible almost perfectly. Any guesses on who this story is about yet?
