DJ PaPa Rooster opened up our first Fresh Friday of the year. He killed his DJ set, mixing in renditions and mashups of hits like “Mutt,” “FEIN,” and “Say Something.” He started DJing after seeing his brother make money throwing parties in Alabama. He wanted to make some money too, so he started spinning on a toy DJ set and he never looked back. DJ PaPa Rooster sat down with us after his magical set.

What’s been your favorite part of your DJ journey?

Establishing myself and really just finding out my lane. Knowing what my niche is and knowing how I can cater towards people. One thing about me and my just my overall Persona is I love to make people happy, love to make people smile. So, when I’m DJing, I’m always watching people. I’m people watching.

What two songs always got spun by you in 2024?

Man, I have two songs. It doesn’t matter where I’m at. These two songs get play. I’m gonna go crazy. And all my friends know these two songs. First one is “FEIN” by Travis Scott. That’s my favorite song. That’s why I start out with as my favorite song. My second song will be “Strike” by Lil Yachty.

Who do you expect to have a big 2025?

I’m a big Kodak fan, so I feel like Kodak will come with something crazy this year. So yeah, after Kodak, I think Travis Scott will come with something crazy too. Absolutely. I’m a big Trav Scott fan, so I love him. And then I think Drake lastly. He’s being too quiet for him not to drop something major. Something will happen, Drake dropping. I feel it.

Where do you want to take DJing in the next 5-10 years?

So that’s a great question. Honestly, I want to really produce as well as also make more music. Like that’s my ultimate goal. Like I’ve been just watching people learning how to produce, you know, do the ins and outs, but produce and go. That would be my dream main job job. And after that, honestly, I want to teach because there’s also kids out here who want to learn how to produce.
