Rihanna’s fashion sense is “driven by her mood”. The Grammy-winning artist has long been recognized as a style icon, influencing global fashion trends since her debut in the early 2000s.

The 37-year-old pop star is mother to RZA, two, and 18-month-old Riot with partner A$AP Rocky and admitted that while her style choices may have been on “mom-mode” for a period of time, she is now just starting to remember everything she loved about fashion before she became a mother. Rihanna’s journey into motherhood has been closely followed by fans worldwide, with her maternity style breaking conventions and inspiring many.

“Now I’m starting to just remember what I loved about it: the juxtaposition, putting the things together that don’t make sense. My fashion has always been driven by my mood, and my mood was on mom-mode for a minute,” she told Harper’s Bazaar. Fashion analysts have noted that Rihanna’s ability to blend high fashion with streetwear has revolutionized contemporary style, creating a significant impact on the fashion industry.

Meanwhile, the ‘Umbrella’ hitmaker – who also heads up the Fenty Beauty cosmetics corporation – was recently announced as new face of Dior’s marquee fragrance J’adore but was “very intimidated” in taking on a role at the iconic brand. Fenty Beauty, launched in 2017, has become a major player in the beauty industry, showcasing Rihanna’s business acumen alongside her artistic talents.

“It was very intimidating. But I was excited to represent such a historic brand, something that was special to me,” she said. The partnership with Dior marks another milestone in Rihanna’s expanding influence in the luxury market, following her groundbreaking collaboration with LVMH in 2019.

Rihanna took over from Hollywood actress Charlize Theron as the face of the brand, and after shooting a campaign France, admitted that the perfume reminded her of her childhood. The J’adore fragrance has been a cornerstone of Dior’s perfume portfolio since its launch in 1999, beloved by perfume enthusiasts worldwide.

“My mother worked in a perfume shop. She used to bring home the J’adore testers when they were almost empty, so there was always a bottle in the house. I have always loved this perfume,” she told Vogue. This personal connection to the fragrance resonates with Rihanna’s authentic approach to brand partnerships, which industry experts attribute to her sustained success in various business ventures.

The singer added of shooting the adverts at Versailles: “Versailles is enchanting. Everything is astonishingly beautiful. It embodies so much history and the magnitude of French luxury. Being able to wander around there early in the morning was a privilege and breathtaking experience from beginning to end.” The Palace of Versailles, a UNESCO World Heritage site, has become an increasingly popular location for luxury fashion campaigns.

Rihanna‘s evolution from music superstar to fashion and beauty mogul represents one of the most successful artist transformations in entertainment history. She has transcended traditional celebrity boundaries to become a powerful business force across multiple industries.

Fashion critics have praised Rihanna’s authentic approach to style, noting that her willingness to experiment and take risks has redefined celebrity fashion standards. Her Met Gala appearances have generated massive social media attention, cementing her status as a cultural trendsetter.

The Dior campaign arrives amid speculation about Rihanna’s long-awaited ninth studio album, which would be her first since 2016’s “Anti.” Despite the musical hiatus, her influence continues to grow through her various business endeavors and carefully selected partnerships.

Industry insiders note that Rihanna’s ability to maintain cultural relevance while expanding her business empire demonstrates a strategic approach to career management rarely seen in the entertainment industry. Her influence extends beyond products to philanthropy, with her Clara Lionel Foundation supporting education and emergency response programs worldwide.

As both a mother and mogul, Rihanna’s evolving relationship with fashion reflects broader conversations about identity and self-expression in contemporary culture. Her candid acknowledgment of how motherhood temporarily shifted her style priorities resonates with many parents navigating similar transitions while maintaining their personal identity.
