Happy Friday. This week we have two notable albums coming but the mark was left in the singles. We got a remix to one of the biggest R&B songs of 2024. We also get a release from a rapper gearing up for the release of his next album. We also get a collab from two of the biggest stars in the word. It’s time to press play.

Kevin Gates – I’m Him 2

Kevin Gates’ first project of the year encompasses all that his fans love about him. He gives you the pain rap, he gives you freaky and nasty bars, and he even gives you a club banger. Gates’ music is like his personality; so many different sides you don’t even know what side you might get that day. Gates gives all sides of his persona in a tight 11-track EP.

Standout Tracks: “Therapy Sessions” ft. Lingo, “Manifest,” and “See Me”

B.U.G Antman – Y’all Ugly

Atlanta newcomer and new Warner signee, B.U.G Antman has a lot of cosigns, and you see why on his latest tape, Y’all Ugly. Antman comes with a distinct but refreshing sound, very reminiscent of the SoundCloud era. His ear for beats is fire, whether it’s one laced with piano keys or Playboi Carti like beams and floats on seamlessly. Antman is star, let’s see how long it takes for others to notice.

Standout Tracks: “Makes Sense,” “G19 My Buddy,” “Sentimental”

Singles

“Just Us” – Jack Harlow ft. Doja Cat

Jack Harlow might be the biggest White rapper out today and he connected with arguably the biggest female in rap today for this fun single. The song is very playful; a lot of sexual innuendoes tied in with childish lyrics. You can tell they had a lot of fun making this one and the song actually hits too.

“MUTT (CB Remix)” – Leon Thomas ft. Chris Brown

Mutt might be the best R&B song of the past five years and Leon Thomas grabbed our king of R&B for the remix, Chris Brown. We need more of this duo as Chris Brown sounded right at home on Thomas’ production.

“Can’t Hide It” – Lil Durk ft. Jhene Aiko

Lil Durk is still behind bars, but it seems like the label has hit the green light on Durk’s album regardless. For the album’s first single, Durk recruited one of the best voices in music for it. Jhene rides the beat perfectly on this one and now the hype for Durk’s album is rising.

Ghost – TheArti$T

My favorite song of the day belongs to The Arti$t. The singer has always excelled on R&B ballads and “Ghost” is just another example of that.
