A year later, Kendrick Lamar clowns Drake to open his tour

The hip-hop heavyweight clash between K. Dot and Drizzy began exactly one year ago

The residue from the historic hip-hop hammering of Drake by Kendrick Lamar lingers far into 2025 as the former was mocked by the latter to open up his Grand National Tour.

Kendrick Lamar clowns Drake right off the rip

Lamar, a.k.a. “K. Dot,” began the first concert with SZA in Minneapolis by mocking Drake’s “drop drop” adlib from the “Family Matters” track.

The Pulitzer Prize-winning rapper played a pre-recorded scene on a screen, showing him sitting in a chair while an “attorney” can be heard saying, “Sunday, Feb. 9.”

Lamar quips, “I don’t keep up with the dates,” to which the attorney says, “Ok, does this ring a bell? Drop. Drop. Drop. Drop….”

After that, the screen turned black, and the famous opening line of “Not Like Us” began with “Psst, I see dead people,” which was whispered to the throngs of fans inside U.S. Bank Stadium.

The beef between Kendrick Lamar and Drake began in April 2024

It has already been a year since Drizzy made the unwise and fatal taunt to Lamar with the track “Push Ups” in April 2024. Members of Drake’s inner circle, most notably OVO Chubbs, poked the bear when he said on Instagram that Lamar didn’t have the guts to respond to Drizzy.

“Tell That Little Boy Drop!!! But He Won’t. He Knows Better,” Chubbs penned. You could almost see Chubbs and Drake laughing while this was being written.

Little did they know that Lamar was bunkered down in his musical fort, busily reloading his lyrical weapons of war. Lamar was about to lay siege on Drake’s career and leave his international musical empire in tatters.

Drake was vanquished so thoroughly by Lamar that Drizzy had to beat a hasty retreat and seek refuge in a court of law.
