Gov. Nathan Deal will join General Motors Corp. on Thursday, Jan 10 at the Georgia Institute of Technology to make “a major economic development and information technology announcement” that is expected to be an information technology center in Roswell, Ga., a northern suburb of Atlanta.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution first reported in December 20112, that GM had acquired a sprawling former UPS complex that will bring upward of 1,500 jobs to the region.
The company last month purchased the Innoplex facility from UPS after scouting metro Atlanta and several other East Coast cities for the site, individuals briefed on the matter told the AJC. At the time, GM officials declined to confirm the purchase and plans to bring the information technology innovation center to Roswell.
A press conference has been set with Deal and GM chief information officer Randy Mott at 10:30 a.m. at Georgia Tech’s Carbon Neutral Energy Solutions building on Strong St.
