A racist judge in Mississippi could spend some time in prison for attacking a mentally disabled Black man. According to a report by WAPT News, Judge Bill Weisenberger was working as a traffic monitor in Madison County, Mississippi, when the incident occurred last May.
Weisenberger confronted a mentally disabled Black teenager and hit him in the back of the head. During the attack, several witnesses claimed that Weisenberger yelled the N-word at the victim.
Weisenberger remained free and continued to serve as a judge. The NAACP realized that he was not being punished and voiced disapproval of the lack of disciplinary action being taken against the judge.
On Feb. 12, a grand jury decided to indict Weiseneberger for assault on a vulnerable individual. However, he was not charged with a hate crime.
If convicted, Weisenberger will likely only serve five years in prison.
