Shellie Zimmerman files for divorce from George Zimmerman
After telling “Good Morning America” that she would have to think about staying married to her murderer husband, Shellie Zimmerman filed divorce papers Thursday, Sept. 5, asking a judge to end her marriage to George Zimmerman. Shellie’s filing comes just two months after the neighborhood watchman was acquitted for the murder of Trayvon Martin.
According to ABC News, Shellie’s divorce petition says the couple, married in 2007, “separated on Aug. 13, 2013, and are not presently cohabiting as husband and wife. The marriage between the parties is irretrievably broken.”
Shellie is asking for “equitable distribution” of their assets as well as their debts and seeking sole custody of their two dogs.
An attorney for George Zimmerman declined to comment. Zimmerman’s brother, Robert, recently tweeted “Pray for them.”
Just a few days ago George received a speeding ticket in Lake Mary, Fla.
