The Florida boycott initiated by Motown legend Stevie Wonder has has expanded tenfold and will eventually cost the state of Florida millions of dollars in lost revenue and taxes annually — if the artists don’t waffle in their declaration of protest. Wonder became the first courageous celebrity to proclaim his stance of refusing to perform in the state in the aftermath of George Zimmerman’s not guilty verdict for killing unarmed teen Trayvon Martin.
But some artists are already waffling on their decision to join the boycott.
According to Jay Z and Justin Timberlake will still perform their ‘Legends of the Summer’ Tour on August 16 at Sun Life Stadium, and Rihanna’s reps are saying she never joined the boycott even though other reports stated that she did. Expect others to follow suit once the media attention dies down and the reality of losing money dawns on them. Celebrities are famous for being bandwagon jumpers.
According to multiple reports, including Britain’s Daily Mail and US magazine, the following A-list stars have joined to boycott the state of Florida unless the state repeals its Stand Your Ground law. Take a look.
