Iggy Azalea has been at the center of some pretty wild stories these past few months thanks to her alleged sex tape with her former boyfriend, Hefe Wine. Although it seemed like things couldn’t get any worse forAzalea after Wine took legal action to try to release their sex tape, their endless drama has taken another wild turn as Wine has claimed that he and Iggy were secretly married.
According to TMZ, Wine filed divorce papers in Texas this week to end what he calls a common-law marriage.
In his divorce papers, Wine claims that Azalea and he “agreed to be married, holding themselves out as man and wife and began residing together in the state of Texas on or about September 2008.”Wineclaims that it was only last year that Azalea moved out of their place.
According to Texas law, any man and woman who live together for any length of time can be legally recognized as a married common -aw couple if they agree to be married and hold themselves out to others as husband and wife.
However, Iggy’s reps claim that she never agreed to married to Hefe, nor did she hold herself out as Hefe’s wife.
Hefe is demanding that a judge stop Iggy from selling any assets that they accumulated while they were living together. Making matters worse is the fact that if a judge recognizes their union as legal, all of the music Azalea created while they lived together will have to be considered community property, which means Wine will receive a big pay day thanks to her monster hits.
And that’s exactly what Azalea’s reps are pointing at in their defense, saying that Wine is looking to unfairly get a pay day from the artist.
We’ll have to wait and see how this plays out, but considering all of the legal action Wine has taken against Azalea, it’s clear that he definitely wants to benefit off of her success. –nicholas robinson
